About the club

Horse riding club Sv. Ivan Zelina was founded in 2007. In two years we have gathered over one hundred members. The conditions for the opening of the first riding club in Sv. Ivan Zelina were created by the restoration of an old neglected estate, which was built near the end of the 19th century. We have restored a stable for 11 horses, a parking lot, an outdoor arena for the riding school and training, and a house built in 1888, 250 m2, for the need of members and the normal functioning of the club (wardrobe, office, kitchen, living room, sanitary block, bathroom, two bedrooms and an apartment).

We are in Zajčeva ulica, in Biškupec Zelinski, only 500 m from the very centre of the town and only 30 km north-east of Zagreb.

Apart from the riding school and training, the club is also active in Zelina Tourist Board manifestations. We take part in Knight's Tournament in Sv. Helena and Zelingrad, Zelinska kestenijada (a chestnut gastronomic manifestation) on Kladešćica. In 2008 we organized Svetoivanjski tournament in show-jumping. Many contestants and spectators came to the tournament. Through all these activities and the large membership the club has become part of tourist and sports offer of Sv. Ivan Zelina and Zagreb county. Owing to this, we have received official credit from the town of Sv. Ivan Zelina for the development of tourism.
